The Last Collectionby Jeanne Mackinreleased in June in the Historical Romance genre.
Paris, 1938. Coco Chanel and Elsa Schiaparelli are fighting for recognition as the most successful and influential fashion designer in France, and their rivalry is already legendary. They oppose each other at every turn, in both their politics and their designs: Chanel’s are classic, elegant, and practical; Schiaparelli’s bold, experimental, and surreal.
When Lily Sutter, a recently widowed young American teacher, visits her brother, Charlie, in Paris, he insists on buying her a couture dress—a Chanel. Lily, however, prefers a Schiaparelli. Charlie’s beautiful and socially prominent girlfriend soon begins wearing Schiaparelli’s designs as well, and much of Paris follows in her footsteps.
Schiaparelli offers budding artist Lily a job at her store, and Lily finds herself increasingly involved with Schiaparelli and Chanel’s personal war. Their fierce competition reaches new and dangerous heights as the Nazis and the looming threat of World War II bear down on Paris.
An American woman becomes entangled in the intense rivalry between iconic fashion designers Coco Chanel and Elsa Schiaparelli in this captivating novel from the acclaimed author of The Beautiful American.

This is a non spoiler review, because you as reader need to read this book. Also, I feel sometimes I have in the past gave away to much of the plot line. This has diminished the pleasure for would be readers
-To give away further plot would be to lessen the pleasure for readers
Set to the turbulent Paris as tensions builds as Germany and Hitler were on the move towards France. It was a dangerous time in history.
The novel follows Lily Sutter, an American teacher who travels to Paris to visit her brother. With her discerning eye for fashion, and her details for color, she inspires to become an artist. An invitation from her brother puts her on a path that will change her future. She renews a friendship with Schiap, who hires her to paint backdrops and vibrant window displays. That is only to cause more feed to the fire with just steps away are Chanel’s boutique and the Hotel Ritz.
Wonderful rich atmospheric imagery brings the historical fiction to life. Lily is a great heroine and I loved her unwavering passion for art. The two iconic fashion designers leap of the pages.
This was an enjoyable reading experience.
At the ball that night there were people whose faces I recognized, a blur of memory from my first evening in Paris at the Ritz, and many more people whom I didn’t recognize at all, men with military posture, women covered with jewels, men in dresses, women in tuxedos, ingénues in pastel gowns. And Charlie and Ania, beautiful Charlie and Ania, so immersed in each other’s gaze they could have been alone rather than dancing through crowded rooms.
…Coco arrived around eleven, in a diaphanous green gown that looked like fern fronds moving in a breeze when she moved. It was Coco, blending into nature, but still Coco.
Schiap arrived soon after, dressed, as she had promised, as a tree, covered in a rough brown cloth that looked like tree bark, with branches extending from her arms and the crown of her head. Several cloth and feather birds perched on her shoulders. Whimsical, humorous, always-make-it-look easy Schiap. Schiap got the louder applause when she made her entrance, and I saw Coco’s smile fade.
Who knew what was going through Coco’s mid that evening? Perhaps she had dreamed the night before of the orphanage, the father who had abandoned her and the mother who had died.
Perhaps she wasn’t thinking at all but only reacting, the way dry wood reacts when a match is put to it.

Her previous novels include A Lady of Good Family, the award winning The Beautiful American, The Sweet By and By, Dreams of Empire, The Queen’s War, and The Frenchwoman.

She has worked all the traditional ‘writers’ jobs’ from waitressing to hotel maid, anything that would leave her a few hours each morning for writing. Most recently, she taught creative writing at the graduate level. She has traveled widely, in Europe and the Middle East and can think of no happier moment than sitting in a Paris café, drinking coffee or a Pernod, and simply watching, while scribbling in a notebook.
A Tale of Two Dresses
by Jeanne Mackin
Use your mind’s eye, as I describe two dresses to you. No visual aids here. Just you and your sense of body and that layer we put over it that we call clothing.
The first dress is white, a straight column that ends just below the knees with a subdued swirl of bias panels. It’s sleeveless and the neck is a modest scoop. The waist is dropped to the hips and accented with a slim fabric tie. “Simplicity, says Coco Chanel, “is the keynote of true elegance.”
The second dress is also white, with a slightly squared neckline, a fuller skirt, large cummerbund just below the bust line to accent it. It is hand painted with a large reddish-pink lobster dangling down the front of it, and if the wearer of the dress in this photograph gets that the lobster is a phallic pun, Wallis Simpson doesn’t give it away in her expression. “Ninety percent of women are afraid of being conspicuous,” says Elsa Schiaparelli. “They should dare to be different.”
The Last Collectionis a story of two dresses, and the two very different designers behind the dresses, women whose intense and dangerous rivalry was the stuff of legend even in their own time, that very fraught time of Paris just before World War II.
Because Elsa Schiaparelli’s upper class Roman family already had a very beautiful daughter, this second child was hoped and meant to be a boy, someone to carry on the family name. Trevor Noah titled his autobiography “Born a Crime.” Elsa could have titled hers “Born a disappointment.” Her parents were so uninterested in the second daughter that when they got to the font for her baptism, they hadn’t even bothered to think of a name. Elsa, whispered her German nanny. Elsa it was. Or so Elsa Schiaparelli writes in her autobiography, Shocking Life.
The irony, of course, is that this second, supposedly unwanted daughter, grew into such a force of nature and ambition that she did indeed preserve the family name of Schiaparelli.
She invented the themed fashion show, culottes and split skirts, the boutique concept; she added color and playfulness to fashion and was, for a brief time, even more famous than Coco Chanel. Elsa Schiaparelli dressed everyone who was anyone: Mae West, Greta Garbo, Wallis Simpson. She helped turn unknowns into stars: Katherine Hepburn believed that being dressed by Schiaparelli was the making of her career. Schiaparelli ruled Paris fashion, which was to rule fashion worldwide.
Her rival, Coco Chanel, was an orphan with roots in the French peasantry. A few years older than Elsa, she was born in 1883 in a poorhouse in southern France, one of five children of peasants, homeless, and soon motherless when her mother died of tuberculosis. The father, an itinerant peddler with little family feeling, hired out his sons to farmers; the three daughters, including Gabrielle Chanel, he dropped off at an orphanage. Coco later told people that he had promised to come back for her as soon as he could. Most people assume that was one of Coco’s inventions. He never reappeared but I’ve always hoped that at some point before he died he learned what a rich and famous woman his daughter had become and what a louse he had been.
Coco made clothes that were, above all else, practical: the little black dress, the pantsuit, inexpensive costume jewelry. She valued elegance over humor, practicality over whimsy.

Series: Theresa Schurmann Mystery, Book 3
Genre: YA/Historical Fiction
Apparently, false rumors about Marie Antoinette are all the fashion in 1783.
Marie Antoinette is facing hostility from the populace, inflamed by rumors circulated in pamphlets throughout Paris. The rumors claim that she has dozens of lovers, drinks the blood of poor people, holds satanic masses at Versailles, and more, when nothing could be further from the truth. On the advice of the handsome, enigmatic Captain von Bauer, Joseph II–emperor of Austria and Marie Antoinette’s brother–decides that mystery-solving violinist Theresa Schurman is the ideal candidate for a spy to discover the source of these vile slanders.
Theresa is only too glad to get away from Vienna for a while, unwilling to commit herself yet to marrying Zoltan–a Hungarian baron she met when she was fifteen–and running out of reasons to postpone her decision. She is eager, too, to explore a new musical scene and broaden her artistic education. But when the captain confounds her expectations and places her as a bookkeeper in the establishment of Rose Bertin, milliner to the queen, she begins to lose hope that she will ever achieve her musical aims–or the emperor’s goal of exposing the pamphleteers.
A chance encounter with the Chevalier de Saint-Georges, an extraordinary black violinist and expert swordsman, sets Theresa on the path to unraveling the mystery. But will the chevalier’s patron, the powerful duc de Chartres, confound her efforts and put her–and the captain’s–lives in danger?
Be prepared for music, mystery, love, and murder in this riveting tale of pre-revolutionary Paris.
“The settings and situations are enchanting and varied; Dunlap is adept at on-the-fly description and at lacing intrigue with romance…Dunlap proves an arresting tour guide through this rich milieu, summoning up the past without slowing down the storytelling. Author and protagonist alike boast an epigrammatic wit. The touch is light, but the scenery and chatter are sumptuous…Theresa stands as a fascinating protagonist, a woman whose nimble navigation of society’s expectations and several burgeoning romances are exciting and inspiring, even more so than the sleuthing that drives the novel’s plot. The people she encounters are likewise memorable, complex, and surprising, especially the chevalier…This sparkling historical mystery conjures up the salons, fashion, and gossip of Marie Antoinette’s Paris, with a winning emphasis on the power of music and the roles that society allowed women.” – The BookLife Prize

But how can she choose just one, knowing she will forever regret the path not taken?

So I went into this book completely blind and choose it solely by its covers. This was a first for me and I was not disappointed one bit.

Her ever growing feelings may upset her plans for independence and her quest for higher magical abilities.

The book does a wonderful job in depicted woman’s choices that are relatable even though they are set in a fantasy atmosphere. Yes there is romance, and it is portrayed perfectly given the characters internal struggles. I was completely immersed within the pages and raced straight through this novel.

Prologue
A body that’s been submerged in water undergoes a different kind of decomposition; harsher in some ways, kinder in other’s—or so I’ve been told. We Moons wouldn’t know about that. We choose fire when our time comes, and scatter our ashes on land that has been in our family for more than two centuries. Mine are there now too, mingled with the dust of my ancestors.
Can it really only be weeks that I’ve been gone? Weeks hovering between worlds, unable to stay, unwilling to go, tethered by regret and unfinished business. The separation feels longer, somehow. And yet, it is not my death I dwell on today, but the deaths of two young girls—Darcy and Heather Gilman—nearly eight years ago now. They’d been missing nearly three weeks when their bodies were finally pulled from the water. It was a ghastly thing to watch, but watch I did. They were dragging my pond, you see, convinced they would find what they were looking for. And why not, when the whole town was looking in my direction? Because of who I was—and what I was. Or at least what they imagined me to be.
Memory, it seems, does not die along with the body. It’s been years since that terrible day at the pond, and yet I remember every detail, replaying again and again, an endless, merciless loop. The police chief in his waders, his men with their boat. The M.E.’s van looming nearby, its back doors yawning wide in anticipation of new cargo. The bone-white face of a mother waiting to learn the fate of her girls. Whispers hissing through the crowd like electric current. And then, the telling shrill of a whistle.
A hush settles over us, the kind that carries a weight of its own—the weight of the dead. No one moves as the first body appears, the glimpse of an arm in a muddy brown coat, water pouring from the sleeve as the sodden form is dragged up onto the bank. A bloated, blackened face, partly obscured by hanks of sopping dark hair.
They’re careful with her, handling her with a tenderness that’s gruesome somehow, and agonizing to watch. They’re preserving the evidence, I realize, and a cold lick goes down my spine. So they can make their case. Against me.
A short time later a second body appears, and there comes a broken wail, a mother’s heart breaking for her darlings. And that’s how it all unraveled, the awful day that set up all the rest. The end of the farm. And perhaps, the end of the Moons.

While going through some of the passages in her grandmothers journals some key information comes to light. With this new information Lizzy seeks out to clear her grandmothers name. Along with her childhood and neighbor Andrew, they must work together to gather clues to the past events to led to the deaths of the innocents.
Lizzy is passionately driven to clear her grandmother’s good name.
But the the murder doesn’t want the evidence to turn away from Althea, who was blamed without concrete evidence all the way up to her death.
Rich in subtle magic, The Last Of The Moon Girls will captivating. The mystery and subtle romance will keep you flipping those pages long past bedtime.
The writing was excellent, the pace was perfect and the plot flowed seamlessly.
I absolutely loved the herb lore and the magical realism that is woven into the storyline. A tale that is engaging and thought provoking,
Ultimately a story about finding grace, with Lizzy exploring her own redemption and forgiveness. She will ultimately have to take the next step and decide to accept her legacy and whether to follow in the footsteps of all the Moon women who came before her. The book captivated me and left me feeling better for having read it.

Kingdom of Ice & Bone
“Nothing is gained by the dead envying the living, nor the living envying the dead.”
KINGDOM OF ICE AND BONE picks up just where the first book left off.
We find Lira and Reyker separated and with each believing the other has met their end.Struggling under the weight of their undeniable grief. Lira was saved by the Fallen Ones, and she is indebted to their emotional longing to be free.
Tasked with the impossible, unsure of her life’s path. Along with unpredictable powers, she still longs for her peoples revenge and her desire to see Reyker again.
Back with his brother, Draki, the Dragon, Reyker’s loyalty is tested with the darkness that surrounds his brother. Draki is malicious, and enjoys inflicting pain on others.
Solid narration the author drives the characters forward in an unnerving pace. The mythology is stunning, along with internal conflicts and the characters struggle.
This is one fantasy series that to me is really intriguing, I went in without any preconceived notions, and was captivated by this second book in the series. I do have to warn you it’s definitely darker than the first book, which I enjoyed. Criswell is a phenomenal fantasy author, her world building is expansive and vivid.
The shocking and heartbreaking cliffhanger that will have you gasping.
It was perfectly done and I am anxiously waiting for the next book the next book

For a small New England town, Shadow Grove has an uncanny ability to attract the worst kind of trouble. Not that the residents are too concerned about the various horrors living among them.
As the leaves change color and the weather grows colder, a foul presence is making itself known by leaving peculiar gifts for the students of Ridge Crest High. At first, the presents seem harmless—and a rash of accidents seem coincidental—but when seniors Rachel Cleary and her Scottish cousin, Dougal Mackay, find a boneless body in the boiler room, things take an ominous turn.
Something vicious is on the loose in Shadow Grove, but with Orion Nebulius gone, Rachel has little hope of anyone getting out alive.
Determined to set the historical record straight, and clear her conscience, Temperance Flowerdew — the wife of Virginia’s first two governors — puts quill to paper, recounting the hardships that nearly brought the Jamestown colony to its knees, and the extraordinary sacrifice of her servant girl, Lily.
When she steps aboard the Falcon in 1609, Temperance Flowerdew was not only setting sail from England to the distant shores of America, she was embarking upon a future of opportunity. She didn’t yet know how she would make her mark, but in this new place she could do or be whatever she wanted.
Willing as she is to brave this new world, Temperance is utterly ill-equipped to survive the wilderness; all she knows is how to live inside the pages of adventure and philosophy books. Loyally at her side, Lily helps Temperance weather pioneer life. A young woman running from lifelong accusations of witchcraft, Lily finds friendship with Temperance and an acceptance of her psychic gifts. Together, they forge paths within the community: Temperance attempts to advise the makeshift government, while Lily experiences the blossoming of first love.
But as the harsh winter approaches, Lily intuitively senses a darkness creep over the colony and the veneer of civilized life threatens to fall away — negotiations with the Indians grow increasingly hostile and provisions become scarce. Lily struggles to keep food on the table by foraging in the woods and being resourceful. Famine could mean the end of days. It’s up to Lily to save them both, but what sacrifice will be enough to survive?
A transporting and evocative story, The Brief and True Report of Temperance Flowerdew is a fiercely hopeful novel — a portrait of two intrepid women who choose to live out their dreams of a future more free than the past.
‘Denise Heinze has written a stirring novel about America’s first pioneers, with particular attention to the women whose pluck and forbearance made it all possible. Temperance Flowerdew’s ‘Brief and True Report’ retells the story of America’s first colony, established by English settlers in 1609, all but destroyed by Powhatan Indians twenty years later, then rescued from oblivion by remnants of Britain’s exploratory fleet. In that saga, Heinze manages to preserve the formal language of the period with a storytelling appetite for narrative, complete with native savagery, thwarted romance, the harsh realities of seventeenth-century ocean travel, and the unpredictable currents that made such explorations so daunting and so frequently fatal.’ –C. Michael Curtis, Fiction Editor Emeritus, The Atlantic
‘With a poet’s tongue and painter’s eye, Denise Heinze summons the wonder, horror, and selfless grit of the women who pioneered a new world. Temperance Flowerdew makes compulsive reading.’ –Elizabeth Cobbs, bestselling author of The Hamilton Affair
‘With careful research, and lyrical and evocative writing, Denise Heinze’s The Brief and True Report of Temperance Flowerdew transports the reader to the harrowing seventeenth-century Jamestown settlement. The richly imagined story of two pioneering women who escape a stifling old-world existence, only to face a tempest at sea, and land in a new world of hunger, thirst, and desperation, is captivating from first page to last. Temperance and Lily represent the untold stories of the heroic American Founding Mothers.’ –Tracey Enerson Wood, author of The Engineer’s Wife
‘The Brief and True Report of Temperance Flowerdew by Denise Heinze is a vivid novel about the winter of 1609-10 in Jamestown, Virginia, America’s first colony. A relentless drought preceded the winter, and a siege by natives of the region blocked access to food. Through the voices of Temperance and her housemaid and friend, Lily, Heinze takes us into the desperate days of what became known as ‘the Starving Time’ in sometimes ruthless detail. This richly researched novel, in an elegant narrative using the vernacular of the seventeenth century, is a must-read for those who love historical fiction and for all who enjoy a compelling drama well told. I read this captivating book straight through.’ –Anna Jean Mayhew, author of Tomorrow’s Bread, The Dry Grass of August, and a third novel in progress.
‘A literary thriller. This remarkable novel infuses the history of the Jamestown experiment with the tale of two women, a mistress and her servant, who find in one another the full measure of sacrifice and survival. This story is spun of silk and rendered in blood.’ –Elaine Neil Orr, author of Swimming Between Worlds
‘In this vividly imagined historical novel, Denise Heinze gives voice to one of the few survivors of the darkest period (1609-10) in the life of the Jamestown colony. The Brief and True Report of Temperance Flowerdew is not only an unforgettable account of the extreme hardships faced by the colonists but also the moving story of two remarkable young women who faced the challenges with courage and ingenuity.’ –Nancy Grayson, executive editor emeritus, University of Georgia Press
‘Denise Heinze skillfully resurrects a forgotten life, and puts her heroine where she belongs — at the center, not the sidelines, of early Jamestown history. Wonderfully inventive, briskly plotted, and rich with historical detail, this fact-filled novel will delight readers of historical fiction and women’s history alike.’ –Kate Bolick, bestselling author of Spinster: Making a Life of One’s Own
‘At the end of Denise Heinze’s compelling new novel, main character Temperance Flowerdew wonders ‘what goes missing when the women are nowhere to be found as actors in history.’ Heinze has created a character whose life answers that question. A product of the English landed gentry, Flowerdew endures the Starving Time in the early days of the Jamestown colony. Surrounded by desperation and death, she manages to prevail, eventually documenting her story of survival and salvation using a quill from a Christmas goose. Although this book is a novel, it is a powerful, truthful, richly detailed portrayal of the daily struggle to survive in early seventeenth-century Virginia.’ –Fred Sauceman, associate professor, East Tennessee State University
‘An enthralling tale of female strength and courage against seemingly impossible odds. Denise Heinze’s Temperance is a complex, nuanced character (as is her maid, Lily, a real treat), and the world we see through her eyes is fascinating and terrifying in equal measure. The research is impeccable but sits lightly on the narrative. The Brief and True Report of Temperance Flowerdew is more than an engaging tale of a pivotal time in America’s history — it draws the women who lived it out of the shadows and, finally, lets them take their rightful place at the center of the story.’ –Meg Keneally, author of Fled

This tale of a well determined young woman Temperance Flowerdew sailed from England aboard Falcon in 1609. This courageous wife of Virginia’s first two governors extensively depicts the hardships that nearly brought the Jamestown colony to its knees. This is a stunning storyline, written in a captivating way to draw the reader in, and keeps you immersed right to the very end.
A story of strength and fortitude and ultimately sacrifice. Drawing on the historical events the author Denise Heinze bring to life of Jamestown and the devastating winter of 1610, dubbed “the Starving Time”
This thought provoking book with its meticulously researched content makes for a stunning historical fiction. Seen through the eyes of the women who endured this incredible hardships. Temperance Flowerdew does the unthinkable when a time women are meant to be silent. She uses ink and paper and documents this horrific experience that she and her maid lily experienced in that dreadful winter in Jamestown.
Temperance Flowerdew goes on to be the wife of Virginia’s first two govern

“Dylan sat gazing out of his classroom window, waiting for the bell to ring. He was watching seahorses playing in the reeds of sea kelp swaying in the gentle current … and not paying any attention at all to the maths lesson that was continuing outside of his daydream. “Pssst … psst,” Dylan heard behind him.
Murdoch passed a note forward. Dylan quickly grabbed it and opened it under his desk without Mrs Pike-Teeth seeing it.
It read, Happy birthday Bubble Boy!”
Dylan McFinn is an ordinary twelve-year-old. Ordinary, that is, if you ignore the fact that he lives deep under the Pacific Ocean with his family The McFinn’s.
As he battles monsters and maelstroms on his first day as a teenager, Dylan discovers that he can be an awful lot more than he imagines and a nostalgic trip to the past was more than just a rite of passage. It was a passage to his destiny.

This very imaginable middle school book, was such a delight to read.
It all starts with the elder Dylan McFinn, sitting down sharing a tale from his book of ‘The Tales of Brother McFinn’ to his village of Malotans. In the audience are young and old alike, this where the story takes off. Captain Culbert McFinn, Dylan’s father was deep into his cups with some islanders rum. When happens to have a chance encounter with a Mermaid. When it happens the second time, he knows he is seeing things. Veruna, the mermaid introduces herself and takes him to a wonderful underwater world. To the delight of the reader the author uses mythology and ties it with critical current issues for young people to understand the importance of environmental protection. There is action abound and adventure that I really enjoyed reading about. The narration flows as the characters are well developed and fleshed out. A delightful book for young and adult readers alike.
To give away further plot would be to lessen the pleasure for readers.
This is one book that I will be purchasing for my family members.
“No matter how small you think you are, you can all change the world with one single thought or action. All you have to do is believe that you can. Therein lies the magic.”

Paperback & eBook; 495 pages
Series: Newport’s Gilded Age, Book 2
Genre: Historical Fiction
From the bestselling author of GILDED SUMMERS comes a powerful novel of the last eight years of the American Women’s fight for suffrage.
The battle for the vote is on fire in America. The powerful and rich women of Newport, Rhode Island, are not only some of the most involved suffragettes, their wealth – especially that of the indomitable Alva Vanderbilt Belmont – nearly single-handedly funded the major suffrage parties. Yet they have been left out of history, tossed aside as mere socialites. In GILDED DREAMS, they reclaim their rightful place in history.
Pearl and Ginevra (GILDED SUMMERS) are two of its most ardent warriors. College graduates, professional women, wives, and mothers, these progressive women have fought their way through some of life’s harshest challenges, yet they survived, yet they thrive. Now they set their sights on the vote, the epitome of all they have struggled for, the embodiment of their dreams.
From the sinking of the Titanic, through World War 1, Pearl and Ginevra are once more put to the test as they fight against politics, outdated beliefs, and the most cutting opponent of all… other women. Yet they will not rest until their voices are heard, until they – and all the women of America – are allowed to cast their vote. But to gain it, they must overcome yet more obstacles, some that put their very lives in danger.
An emotional and empowering journey, GILDED DREAMS is a historical, action-packed love letter to the women who fought so hard for all women who stand on the shoulders of their triumph.

This second installment in Newport’s Gilded Age Series. From the previous book the Gilded Summers, we met Ginevra, who immigrated from Italy, and Pearl, a debutante’s daughter.
The story opens up with the devastating news of the sinking of the Titanic, April of 1912. Socialite Pearl Worthington Wright entire family was among the long list of souls lost aboard the ocean liner called the “Unsinkable Ship”
Pearl’s heartbreak is deep, especially since she had not reconciled with her mother. Upon the reading of her parents will, some key information comes to light. Questioning everything, Pearl and those around her are caught off guard when she is notified that since she was a married woman thelaws about inheritance did not allow married women to have control over their estates,
This means that all money and property goes into your husband’s hands to do as he sees fit, which is to say once you are married you become invisible.
This strikes a cord deep within Pearl. With a determined mind Pearl, along with her dearest friend Ginevra, seek to learn more about the gross injustice that is leaved on women. In a late fall day they take a brave step, and attend one of Ava Alma Vanderbilt Belmont, suffrage meetings.
This powerful Newport socialite Alma Vanderbilt Belmont, was one the driving forces in the suffrage movement in Newport, and most important financial benefactor within the Suffrage movemWith her money and status she was a force to be reckoned with. This meeting that Pearl and Ginevra attend ignites a fire that takes the two friends and those fighting the good fight as they meet head on the resistance from the ”Antis” who stone-walledthe movement given every when chance they can. The “Antis”movement also included the very woman that would eventually come to benefit when given the the right to vote.
As the story unfolds it takes the friends and movement through the devastating WW1, where woman began to fill the roles that once where held by men.
Still they are not given a voice, but continue unrelenting to protest and demand equality. Even to the point of violence and horrible mistreatment the protesters endure as they are jailed and beat during the Night of Terror.
An impeccable historical fiction that will ultimately transports he reader to a middle of pivotal time in history. Seamless narration that gives the reader two distinctive points of view. Wonderful character development and vibrant historical imagery. The pace flows perfectly and the historical people along with the author imaginative characters are stunningly portrayed.
An inspiring story that reminds us that the ability to vote as women was a fight for many long years. That came from those individuals who had the unwavering courage to make a stance against inequality. Through their voices and blood and tears we are able to stand up and cast a vote. As women we are not invisible, we have a voice.
This is incredible moving thought provoking book, that reminds us that the ability to vote as women was a fight of blood and tears form many years.
This book reminds us to look how far we have come and how far we still need to go for justice.
